About Elham Village Hall
A Hall sustained by its community
For generations, local people have helped make this a place to meet, celebrate and belong. Get to know the Hall and the volunteers who keep it going.
The Hall’s story
From two army huts to today’s village venue
The present Elham Village Hall opened in 1999, with support from the Millennium Commission. It replaced a building formed from two army huts that had served the village for around sixty years.
The building has changed, but the idea is much the same: a welcoming place where neighbours can meet, friendships can grow and village life can happen.
The rooms remember people who helped make the present Hall possible. Mary Elgar led the Children’s Conservation Group, whose work helped secure a Millennium Grant covering half the build cost, matched by the community. The Mary Elgar Room is now used by the Community Shed and by the history society to store archives, and is not available for general hire.
